Our Story
Built on Purpose and Grounded in Experience
Davies General Contracting was founded by someone who has worked every side of this industry and knows what it looks like when it is done right and when it is not. This is the story behind the company, the values that drive it, and why giving back is part of how we do business.
Twenty Years in the Trades
I’ve been in the construction industry for 20 years. I started hands-on at a high-end custom pool builder, learning the standards of quality craftsmanship. Later, I worked for a contractor who was willing to cut corners, using bad trades, poor communication, and overrunning project budgets and timelines. I learned exactly what not to do in this business...
I wondered what it would look like if you truly cared, used the right tradespeople, communicated openly, and focused on doing things properly?

A Diagnosis That Changed the Direction
In 2018, I was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis, a chronic inflammatory bowel disease with no known cure. Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis are largely invisible conditions. A person can be experiencing a serious flare-up with no outward indication. Symptoms range from chronic fatigue and joint pain to severe intestinal damage. In serious cases, the disease can be life-threatening.
Like many who live with it, I learned quickly that stress is one of the primary triggers for ulcerative colitis. Working in the construction industry can be very stressful, especially when there is poor project management.
Why I Started Davies General Contracting
That’s when I decided to start Davies General Contracting. I wanted to build a company that delivers the kind of renovations homeowners deserve, with clear communication, skilled teams, and work done right the first time.
At the same time, I knew that I could reduce the triggers that create a high-stress work environment by directly overseeing the quality of work and the experience of every client.
Taking control of my professional environment was not just a business decision; it was a decision for my health as well.
Giving Back to Crohn's and Colitis Canada

Davies General Contracting donates a portion of every referred project to
Crohn's and Colitis Canada, an organization I have been involved with since my diagnosis, including time served as a chapter president and ongoing fundraising support. Without Crohn's and Colitis Canada and without access to the treatment I have received, Davies General Contracting may not exist. Giving back to that organization is the right thing to do.
When clients refer us to someone in their network, we also donate on their behalf. Many of our clients have declined traditional referral incentives because gift cards or cash rewards did not align with why they refer us in the first place. However, a donation that funds real research and support does align well. This is not a marketing initiative. It is a direct reflection of how I operate this company: with accountability to something larger than the project at hand.
What This Means for You
When you work with Davies General Contracting, you are working with a company that is directly accountable to you, to the standard of work we deliver, and to the values that shaped this business from the beginning. Integrity, transparency, and respect are not talking points. They are the foundation of how we operate on every project, with every client.
A Referral-Driven Difference
Nearly 90% of our projects come from past clients or their trusted friends. If you found us through a referral, you’re in good company; that’s how we know we’re creating lasting value and trust in Burlington.
When you refer a neighbour or friend to Davies General Contracting, you’re not just helping them find a contractor you’d vouch for. You’re also helping support families living with Crohn’s and colitis. For every qualified referral that becomes a project, we make a donation to Crohn’s and Colitis Canada on your behalf.
It’s our way of saying thank you, and of turning a great renovation experience into something that reaches beyond your front door.
